Water is a fragile and vital resource
Years of flagrant bad practices by Aqua TX – and illegal pumping of more than 160 MILLION GALLONS of Hill Country groundwater – has created significant uncertainty for all who depend on Hill Country groundwater.
the truth about Aqua TX
Our Texas water is a fragile, scarce, and endangered resource
As Texans who love our state – and our natural resources – we know we must protect our water. This has become even more critical as we’ve watched an out of state bad actor, Aqua Texas, repeatedly abuse the water sources we all depend on.
Aqua Texas has overpumped, leaked, and wasted Our Water
For at least the past two years, Aqua Texas has overpumped, leaked, and wasted more than 160 million gallons of Texas groundwater and has refused to comply with the regulations and drought restrictions put in place to protect and preserve our vital Texas water.
Working Against – Not With – the Community
Instead of working with the local community to protect our precious water resources, Aqua Texas chose to sue the local groundwater district in federal court.
Aqua Texas is setting A Dangerous Precedent
If Aqua Texas were to prevail in this lawsuit, it would effectively overturn the rules that protect groundwater in Texas, setting a dangerous precedent for the future of our state's water resources.

Jacob's Well Was Dry for Seven Months - One Company Just Kept Pumping
"We can't have rogue utilities that won't follow the state's rules, the State of Texas drought contingency rules, or the local groundwater district rules. Where would that leave us if we had other utilities that behaved this way? It's certainly not sustainable, but I also don't think it's ethical for a company to take the attitude that they don't have to follow state or local rules."

Who's Killing Jacob's Well?
Ultimately, Baker worries that profit-making imperatives of Aqua Texas and the land developers will triumph over conservation. "If we're going to trade two thousand or three thousand houses for Jacon's Well, I don't think that's a very good deal."

Hill Country group demands state officials stop a water firm from overpumping in Hays County
"If they can’t provide water without violating a permit, they either need to be required find alternative water sources or they need to be potentially replaced. If we can’t protect both the water wells and water users as well as our sources of water for the springs, if we can’t do that, we’re going to lose a tremendous resource in the Hill Country."
